1 pound rib eye meat, sliced w/three bones per piece
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
1 tablespoon rice wine
1 green onion
Pinch of black pepper
1/4 kiwi, juiced
Place Rib Eye meat in a large mixing bowl, sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over each piece of meat. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Prepare the marinade in a separate bowl. Mix together the soy sauce, rice wine, sesame oil, crushed garlic & black pepper.Add a few 1 inch pieces of green onion.
Take Kiwi juice and mix evenly with the meat. Massage into each piece with your hands.
Mix in the Marinade and evenly cover each piece. Leave in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
Cook on barbecue grill, broil, or pan fry.
Koreans often grill mushrooms (halved), onions & whole pieces of garlic along side the Kalbi. Serve Kalbi with short-grain rice and kimchi.
There is a ground swell of interest growing for Korean cuisine. Partly because Korean food is very tasty and much of it is very healthful. I love the food, especially kalbi, also known as barbecue. I've eaten Korean kalbi in several restaurants and prepared it myself. I've tried several recipes but this recipe is my favorite.
